The Bathurst Wireless project was started sometime early in 2003 when, after a few months of testing/purchasing equipment etc, our first access point was born. The network started off with only a few connections and has now grown to support a few more access points and a whole host more client connections.
The project itself is a community run, 'not for profit' group which aims to provide a fast, free* Wireless Network to Bathurst and close surrounding areas using 802.11 based Wireless equipment. The network will provide users with an inexpensive method of transferring files, playing games, video conferening and what ever else users decide to use it for at broadband like speeds, but without the ongoing monthly cost.
* = "free" means free network use. Membership, equipment, and maintenance costs may be involved.
